This cottage to rent long term in South France is a lovely refurbished 2 bedroom property opposite the Canal du Midi in the centre of the city. The main railway station is 5 minutes walk and there are plenty of local restaurants, shops and services nearby. Carcassonne airport is just a short taxi ride.
The cottage is laid out all on one level, with ground floor access with no steps. The cottage also comes with its own private terrace and you can also sit on the canal bank with a baguette and a bottle of wine and watch the barges and little ducks go by.
Available for long term rentals all year around from €900 per month + bills.

The Cottage is located in a very quiet area of the city, just opposite the famous Canal du Midi. The cottage comes with reverse air conditioning for heating and cooling, as well as a large wood burning stove.
- There is a lovely living room with a comfy day bed and sofa.
- The cottage comes with a TV and free Wifi.
- The fully equipped kitchen comes with a fridge freezer, washing machine, cooker and microwave.
- Bedroom 1 is a double bedroom, with wardrobe and bedside cabinets.
- Bedroom 2 comes with a large double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers.
- The bedrooms are fitted with luxurious cotton sheets and fluffy white towels.
Outside:
- The living room leads out onto the terrace, which features patio furniture and a parasol.
- The window opens out on to the canal so you can watch the boats go by. There is a table and chairs to sit outside where you can enjoy our local wines or beers.

Prices are monthly and do not include utilities. There is a monthly provision of €200 towards the electricity, water, internet and local taxes. Price will depend on length of stay and season. The minimum stay is 3 months.

Last visited: September 2023. This is a very convenient long term rental property in South France. The cottage is located right in the heart of Carcassonne, next to the Canal du Midi. Everything in Carcassonne is walkable from this cottage - shops, restaurants, cafes, etc. Carcassonne also has a local airport with flights to the UK and Ireland. There is a train station in the town, with services to Toulouse and Narbonne (where you can pick up the TGV).

The Cité and the Bastide or Ville Basse are two main parts of Carcassonne. The Canal Cottage is a 5 minute walk from the Ville Basse and a 25 minute walk from La Cité.
Carcassonne Airport is well serviced by Ryanair from all over Europe.
Carcassonne Railway Station is 5 minutes from the house, whether you would like to explore Toulouse, take a trip to the Mediterranean or hop aboard the 1 Euro tourist train, you will be spoilt for choice.
