The house is located in a small hamlet, located 5 mins from the town of St Martin de Londres. The local countryside is called garrigue, which refers to a wild rocky landscape with aromatic shrubs and trees. St Martin de Londres is a small town of around 3,000 inhabitants. The town serves as an administrative and commercial hub for the surrounding Grand Pic St Loup rural community. As a result, the town has a good range of local services including a supermarket, DIY store, 3-4 restaurants, a pharmacy, medical centre, several wine shops and a large weekly market, held every Sunday morning.
The town of St Martin de Londres dates back to the 11th century and the beautiful church in the centre of the town was built at the beginning of the century by the monks from the near-by abbey of Saint-Guilhem-du-Désert, on one of the pilgrimmage routes to Santiago de Compostela.

Pic St Loup: is an arrow-shaped mountain which is visible throughout much of the Herault department. The mountain is 658m in altitude and is a popular destination for hikers. Anduze: this famous pottery town which produced world renowned glazed vases is a picturesque place. Also close-by is the celebrated Bambouseraie bamboo gardens. Also from Anduze you can take a Steam train through the Cevennes and enjoy the outstanding views.
