La Mignonne is a cute 2 bedroom house to rent long term in South France. The house is located on a lovely cobbled street in the centre of the medieval village of Siran. This well-equipped village has a bar, bistro restaurant, school, shop and library. Siran is located in the heart of the Minervois wine region (producing some of the best wines in Southern France) and is close to both Narbonne and Carcassonne.
This beautiful property comes with plenty of charm with exposed beams and stone walls. There is a large open plan living room, 2 good sized bedrooms, a small terrace and a converted cellar. The property comes with a good speed internet connection (61.2 Mbps download 18.4 Mbps Upload) and can be rented from €750 per month + bills.
House to rent long term South France - facilities
The house is located on a narrow street in the heart of Siran. The house is laid out over 3 levels:
Ground floor
- There is an open plan living room which contains the lounge, dining room and kitchen. The living room has air conditioning (for heating and cooling).
- The lounge comes with a comfortable sofa, antique armchairs and a flat screen TV. The TV has a Firestick offering a range of international channels. The Wi-Fi is via Orange fiber and the speed is very good for work / leisure use.
- The dining room features lovely exposed stone walls and original beams. The table can seat 4-6 people. The dining room provides access to the terrace.
- The kitchen is equipped with an oven, induction hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, washing machine, coffee machine, kettle and toaster. There is a small kitchen table.
Cellar
- The cellar has been converted to provide a small bar area, with bar stools and a retro refrigerator. This room stays very cool all year around and is a great space for entertaining guests. The Wi-Fi works well in cellar (so this space can also be used as a home office).
First floor
There are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.
- The master bedroom comes with lovely exposed stone walls. There is a double bed, wardrobe and an air conditioning unit (reversible).
- Bedroom 2 is fitted with a double bed, chest of drawers and air conditioning (reversible).
- The large bathroom features a shower unit, wash basin, WC, heated towel rail and storage units.
Outside:
- There is a small terrace enclosed with a high wall. This is a lovely space to sit out and enjoy a good book or a glass of wine.
- There is public parking just 50 metres away. It is a short walk to the bar, shop, post office and library.
Siran property to rent in France - prices
La Mignonne is available for long term rentals all year around. In addition to the monthly rent, there is a provision of €150 per month towards the electricity, water and Wi-Fi. The rental price is based on a 6 month rental period. Higher prices may apply for shorter rental periods, especially over the summer. The minimum stay is 3 months (although the Owner would prefer longer rental periods).

This cute stone built house in the village of Siran, is the perfect place to enjoy a long stay in the South of France. The house is well-equipped and you have the benefit of a private terrace to sit out and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. The surrounding countryside features views of the Black Mountains and the vineyards of the Minervois wine region. The Scottish owners live in the village and can advise, where needed to, on places to visit and general information.
It should be noted that the house has low level windows in the bedrooms, so care must be taken with small children.

Area activities
The medieval village of Siran is situated on the border of the Herault and Aude departments in Southern France. In the village itself you will find a popular local bar, shop, wine bar and primary school. Every week, a food truck visits the village selling meat and charcuterie. The village has a population of around 750 people. The local countryside features plenty of vineyards and rugged hillsides.
Nearby to Siran, you will find the ancient Cathar village of Minerve, a popular tourist destination.
The market town of Olonzac is 5 km away. Here you will find plenty of restaurants, shops and supermarkets. There is a weekly market which takes over the main streets of the town.
The famous Canal du Midi passes by close to Siran in the village of Homps and here you can enjoy some lovely walks and cycle rides along the tow path. Homps also has 2 very good restaurants.
The nearby Lac de Jouarres is perfect for swimming or sailing during the summer months. There is a cafe-restaurant located on the edge of the lake.
The magnificent castle at Carcassonne is a popular tourist attraction. The castle is the largest fortified town in Europe and the second most-visited historical monument in France outside of Paris.
Other transport
There is a TGV train station in Narbonne, with services up to Paris and down to Barcelona.

The nearest airport to Siran is located at Carcassonne (30 mins drive). Other local airports include:

Driving directions
Siran is reached by taking the D5 from Beziers or the D610 from Carcassonne. At the village of Homps, you follow the local roads to Olonzac, Pepieux and then Siran.
One month deposit to be paid at time of reservation (this will become the security deposit for your stay). Rent to be paid in advance on the first day of the month (for rentals of 3 months or less, the rent is to be paid in full prior to arrival). The utility bills are to be paid in addition to the monthly rent. There is a monthly provision of €150 towards the utility bills. References may be required. Minimum stay is normally 3 months.
