Perched above the coastal town of Menton in South France, you will find this 2 bedroom apartment for long term rentals. The hilltop village of Castellar is set among olive groves and citrus trees, just 4 miles from the beaches at Menton. The apartment enjoys spectacular views down towards the French Riviera coastline. Being situated on the French/Italian border you have easy access by road or motorway to the glamorous resorts of Monte Carlo, Nice, Cap Ferrat, Ventimiglia, San Remo and Imperia.
Available for long term rentals between October to May from €800 per month + bills.
Castellar apartment long term rentals France - facilities
The apartment is located on the second floor of a traditional house in the village square. Access to the apartment is by stairs only. The apartment is light and bright inside and features 2 bedrooms a living room and fitted kitchen. There are electric radiators in each room which are regulated individually. The windows are double glazed and fitted with wooden shutters.
- The Living room/dining room is a bright and airy room fitted with an antique table with 4 chairs, a sofa and 3 occasional chairs and a traditional sideboard. French windows open out from the sitting room onto the balcony overlooking square and mountains.
- The Kitchen contains hand-made oak cabinets and contains a fridge, self cleaning oven, 4 electric hobs, dishwasher, microwave and electric kettle. The kitchen comes with plenty of cooking utensils, plates, cutlery and glasses.
- Bedroom 1 comes with a double bed, antique furniture and balcony overlooking sea.
- Bedroom 2 is fitted with twin beds, an oak wardrobe and shelves. Two large windows provide views towards the sea and the mountains.
- Fully tiled shower room, comes with a WC, hand basin and bathroom cabinet.
Outside: there is a small balcony leading from the main bedroom with magnificent sea views. The second balcony is much larger and is accessed from the living room. This balcony contains 2 wicker chairs from which you can observe life in the square below and take in the spectacle of the mountains surrounding Castellar.
Free parking is available at various places in the village and there is also a designated car park.

Located in one of the prettiest villages in Cote d'Azur, you can enjoy a perfect slide of rural French life, yet still be able to quickly access Nice, Monte Carlo, Ventimiglia and San Remo.

The traditional French village of Castellar remains unspoilt and offers a unique glimpse into French country life. It has quaint narrow streets, historic buildings, fountains and an olive oil mill. Seats are placed at various spots throughout the village allowing you to enjoy some wonderful scenery and there is an attractive public garden off the Rue de la Republique where you can relax in a tranquil setting and enjoy a game of boules.
Castellar is one of the French Riviera´s famous perched villages dating back to the XV century and is situated right on the French/Italian border. There are 2 restaurants in the village one opposite the apartment. A bakery providing a range of pastries for a delicious French breakfast is located in the main street. There is also a church and an olive mill and a cheesemaker in the village. The village has just 300 inhabitants in the village and a school for 68 children!
The village is ideal for people who enjoy painting and sketching and for nature lovers. There are beautiful walks (Chemin GR 51) in the surrounding countryside.
Menton, 4 miles away, is a charming town with shops selling local produce, markets, several museums and an excellent choice of restaurants. A bus takes you to Menton for only 1.50 euros and there are good train links from Menton. The beaches at Menton are 6km from the village and there is a choice of public and private facilities. There are also a number of supermarkets in Menton and some grocery stores open there on Sundays.
The delightful Italian coastal towns of Bordighera, San Remo and Imperia are well worth exploring and Dolceaqua, just north of Ventimiglia, is a very picturesque ancient town.
You can also enjoy the glamour of Nice with its Promenade des Anglais, old city, galleries and flower market. In Monaco there are many museums, the Royal Palace and the extraordinary Observatory Caves. The Villa Ephrussi in Cap Ferrat and the Villa Kerylos in Beaulieu are fascinating tourist attractions.
