Chateau Cardou is available to rent in France on a long term basis between October to June. The Chateau is situated in the eastern part of the Lot-et-Garonne department in South West France, close to Dordogne and the Lot departments.
This 6 bed Chateau in France comes with a private heated swimming pool, tennis court and is set within 120 acres of land. The Chateau is approached up a long private drive, through a new plantation of mixed firs and hardwood trees and surrounded by beautiful mature Chestnuts. You can enjoy wonderful views over the local valleys.
Cardou Chateau to rent in France long term - facilities
The Chateau comprises up to 500m2 of living space, although certain parts of the Chateau can be closed off for winter rentals. There is oil fired central heating and 2 working fireplaces. The Chateau is laid out over 3 floors.
Ground floor
- The fully fitted kitchen has two ovens, microwave, American fridge-freezer, dishwasher, and plenty of plates, cutlery and glasses and a full array of pots and pans.
- The Grand dining hall has a massive stone chimney breast, in which you can have a roaring log fire. There is a large dining table which seats up to 16 people.
- A stereo music centre and a 5ft grand piano (in excellent working order) are provided for entertainment.
- There are three bedrooms each with an en-suite bath or shower room. Each bedroom also comes with a separate dressing room.
- The sitting room has a small open fire, television (with UK Satellite channels + French terrestrial TV) and DVD/video player. The Chateau also comes with 4g Wi-Fi throughout
Lower Ground floor
- There is a fourth bedroom and a separate shower room.
- There is a ping pong table for guests to use in the lower entrance hall.
- There is a laundry room with washing machine, iron and ironing board.
First floor
- There are two delightful bedrooms set in the tower of the Chateau. Both bedrooms come with an adjacent bathroom and have magnificent views up and down the valley.
- There is a huge attic playroom/den, with a lofty ceiling, supported by oak beams.
Outside
- The private swimming pool lies between large barns which provide a courtyard feel and a sun trap. The swimming pool can be heated (April-June and September-October).
- The poolside terrace includes a stone table and barbecue.
- The Tennis Court is close by, just up the hill.
- There is parking for several cars.
- 2 very large (lockable) barns can be made available for storage.
Long term rentals Lot-et-Garonne France - prices
The Chateau is available for long term rentals between October to June each year. In the summer the Chateau is reserved for weekly rentals, weddings and events. In addition to the rent, there is a monthly provision of €500 towards the electricity, heating, firewood, Wi-Fi and water. The prices quoted are based on a 6 month stay. Pets may be accepted through prior agreement. Minimum stay is 2 months and higher prices will apply during May-June.

Last visited: July 2024. This Chateau for long term rentals in the Lot-et-Garonne department is an amazing space to enjoy a few relaxing months in the south west France. The local countryside is spectacular, with hill-top fort towns, beautiful villages, wide river valleys and deep gorges. Indulge yourself in the local truffles, fois gras, confit de canard and the beautiful Cahor wines.

Chateau Cardou is located in a beautiful part of south-west France, with the Dordogne to the north, the Cahors vineyards and Quercy National Park to the east and the forests and limestone plateau of the Lot-et-Garonne to the west. Major towns in the area include Bergerac to the north, Toulouse and Montauban to the south and Agen and Marmande to the west.
Nearby you have many sites to visit including the stunning hilltop town of Rocamadour, some beautiful castles and fortified towns (such as Chateau de Bonaguil and Chateau de Duras) and 2 of the prettiest villages in France: the hill-top village of Monflanquin and the 13th century village of Villereal, with its famous weekly market.
The nearby village of Tournon-d'Agenais has a cafe-restaurant, a small supermarket, epicerie, butcher, hairdresser and 2 boulangeries.
Other transport
There is a TGV train station in the nearby towns of Montauban and Agen.

The nearest airports are located at Toulouse (90 mins) and Bergerac (90 mins)

Château Cardou is located 35 mins to the A20 motorway (which runs from Paris down to Toulouse) and 40 mins to the A62 motorway (which connects Toulouse and Bordeaux).
