Le Moulin is a charming country house in Southern France located in between Toulouse and Carcassonne. The house is situated on a small hill with 360° panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. This 5 bed house is available for long term rentals between October to April from €1500 per month + bills. Pets maybe accepted through prior agreement.
This former farmhouse previously had two working windmills, which have been lovingly restored. A former barn is now used as an outdoor lounge, with patio furniture, dining table and a ping pong table.
Country house for long term rental Southern France - Facilities
The house is laid out on 2 floors and comprises 200m2 of living space. The house comes with Wi-Fi and central heating.
Ground Floor:
- The entrance hallway provides access to the kitchen, lounge and stairs up to the first floor. There is a guest WC just off the hall.
- The spacious lounge comes with 2 sofas and a number of armchairs arranged around a working fireplace. There is a TV with UK TV channels. French windows lead out onto the south-facing terrace.
- The kitchen is equipped withan electric hob, two ovens, a dishwasher, a fridge, microwave and plenty of cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. French windows provide access to the terrace.
First Floor:
- Bedroom 2 is fitted with a large King-size double bed (which can also be separated into 2 single beds) and an en-suite bathroom. The bathroom comes with a large bath, a separate shower, wash basin and WC .
- Bedroom 3 has a King-size double bed (which can also be separated into 2 single beds).
- Bedroom 4 is a twin bedroom.
- Bedroom 5 has full size bunk beds as well as a cot.
- There is a family bathroom which has a bath, a separate shower cubicle, wash basin and WC.
Outside:
- The stunning hangar is a great place to spend time on those sunny winter days. It comes with a range of patio furniture, a dining table and a ping pong table. You have beautiful views over the pool, the garden and the surrounding countryside.
- Next to the hangar, there is a well-equipped summer kitchen which is fitted with a fridge, sink, dishwasher and a complete set of crockery and cutlery. There is also another dining table, comfortably seating ten people.
- There is a private heated swimming pool (10m x 4) with Roman steps and a pool alarm.
- Along the rear of the house there is a south-facing terrace with stunning views over the pool area and the countryside beyond. There is a good range of patio chairs.
- In the garden you will find a children's play area, a sand pit, a trampoline, a Croquet lawn and a pitch and putt area.

Le Moulin can be rented for 3-6 months between October to April. In addition to the rental price, there is a monthly provision of €350 towards the electricity, water and Wi-Fi. Firewood to be purchased separately. Pets may be accepted (through prior agreement).

Country house for long term rental Southern France - Our opinion
If you are looking for a large rural property to rent for a few months in Southern France, then Le Moulin provides very comfortable accommodation. It has a real homely feel about it. Although the house provides total peace and quiet, you are not totally secluded, with a large village with a good range of shops and services just 5 mins drive and both Carcassonne and Toulouse accessible in under 1 hour.

Area activities
The house and grounds are quiet, peaceful and very private. However the house is not isolated. The small hamlet of Sainte Camelle is at the bottom of the hill and the village of Salles sur l'Hers is a few minutes' drive away and has a supermarket, butcher, boulangerie, tabac, pharmacy, medical centre, dentist and hairdresser.
A larger range of shops and supermarkets are available in the nearby town of Castelnaudary and both Carcassonne and Toulouse provide all the big town facilities.
The world famous Carcassonne Castle is about 50 minutes away and most of the best Cathar castles are within an hour's drive.
There are two golf courses within about 45 minutes of the house, at Carcassonne and at Toulouse.
The Lac de la Ganguise is a 15 minute drive from the house. Sailing dingys, paddle boards, pedallos and canoes can be hired.
The ski resort at Axe les Thermes is just over an hour away.
Airports
Le Moulin is 40 minutes from Carcassonne airport and 1 hour from Toulouse airport. There are flights from all over the UK into either airport and in particular from Dublin, Bristol, Birmingham and Prestwick.
Driving directions
Le Moulin is located close to the A61 motorway which runs from Toulouse to the Mediterranean coast. The house is 10kms south of the town of Castelnaudary, situated just abouve the hamlet of Sainte Camelle.

Rent to be paid in advance prior to your arrival (or on the first day of each month if you stay for more than 3 months).
