La Perdrix is a beautiful 18th century cottage, with original oak beams and exposed stone walls. The cottage is situated on the border of the Vienne and Charente departments in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of South West France. The cottage comes with 2 bedrooms and can sleep 2 people.

Inside, La Perdrix is deceptively spacious (60sqm) and is ideal for a couple looking to rent a place in France for a few months on a house-hunting trip or just a long vacation.
The cottage retains much of the original character of the old stone barn, whilst providing the modern comforts of double glazing, modern bathrooms and quality fixtures and fittings.
Living room
- The spacious living room features a double height ceiling with original oak beams and exposed stone walls. There is a comfortable sofa and two arm chairs, as well as a wood burner that keeps the cottage lovely and toasty in the winter months.
- The living room opens out directly onto the private terrace overlooking the pool and countryside beyond.
Kitchen
- There is a well-equipped open plan kitchen comes with good quality fixtures and fittings, an electric fan oven, gas hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge freezer.
- Next to the kitchen there is a round dining table that seats 4 people.
Bedroom & bathroom
- The master bedroom is located on the ground floor and comes with a King size bed, bedside tables and a clothes rail. It has it\'s own separate doorway opening onto the private terrace. The bedroom has an electric wall heater.
- There is a mezzanine floor that provides additional storage.
- The modern bathroom is equipped with a full size bath with shower over the bath. Watch the horses grazing in the paddock while you clean your teeth!
Outside
- The private terrace is equipped with table, chairs, parasol and a barbecue overlooking the stunning heated pool and peaceful countryside beyond. The pool is heated between May and September.
- Play petanque/boules on the purpose built pitch under the magnificent oak tree.
- The grounds around the cottage have been beautifully landscaped with a range of flowers, shrubs and trees attract an abundance of wildlife. There are miles of beautiful walks and cycling tracks straight from the door.

This beautiful cottage is located in an idyllic part of France with beautiful open countryside, slow running rivers and streams and quaint villages. The nearby towns of Civray and Charroux provide the local shops, supermarkets, restaurants and services that you will need on a day-to-day basis and the cities of Poitiers and Limoges provide all the big town services you will require. Both are 1 hour drive.
There is an adjoining cottage next to La Perdrix with a separate terrace and entrance. The friendly Owners live on-site in a separate building.

Area activities
The Vienne department is characteristically French, with numerous Chateaux, rolling hills, historic villages and meandering rivers. Nearby you will find a host of restaurants, weekly markets and French antique markets (brocantes). Discover the Benedictine Abbey in Charroux, founded in 785 by Roger, Count of Limoges.
If you’re feeling energetic there are miles of walking and cycle paths right from your door. If you’re feeling really energetic, you could try kayaking down the Vienne river or go crazy and try a bungy jump from the viaduct at l’Isle Jourdain.
The nearby town of Limoges is a very pretty place, with a lovely historical centre, a stunning medieval Cathedral and a beautiful art-deco train station (often regarded as the most beautiful train station in France).
The Futuroscope theme park is about 25km away, close to the city of Poitiers.
Other transport
There are TGV train stations in the nearby towns of Niort, Poitiers and Limoges (all 1 hour drive). Local train services run from the village of Saint-Saviol, up to Poitiers.
Airports
Poitiers airport is approximately 50 minutes drive to the North. It has regular flights from the UK via Ryanair.
Limoges airport is just over 1 hour drive away to the South-East. There are flights to the following airports:
- France: Lyon and Paris Orly
- UK: London Stansted, East Midlands, Manchester (all year) and Bristol, Leeds Bradford, London Gatwick and Southampton (seasonal).
Driving directions
Asnois is just 15 mins drive to the N10 highway, which runs from Poitiers down to Angoulême. Paris is 4 hours drive.
