La Petite École is a spacious long term rentals property in South France, located in the former school building of the village of Roujan. The property was constructed in 1935 and operated as the local school for over 80 years. The property has recently been refurbished and comes with 3 en suite bedrooms, a spacious open plan living room and kitchen and a sunny terrace at the front
The property is located in the wine producing village of Roujan in the Languedoc region of Southern France. Roujan is surrounded by vineyards in all directions and close-by you have the excellent Faugeres, Saint Chinian and Picpoul de Pinet vineyards. In the village there are a couple of restaurants, shops, boulangeries, 2 popular bars and a large supermarket. The beautiful town of Pezenas is just down the road and the Mediterranean beaches are a short drive away.
La Petite École is available for monthly rentals between October to April from €900 per month + bills. Minimum stay is 3 months.

La Petite École is housed in the former village school building, with the play ground transformed into a landscaped garden and a large sun terrace. Inside, the property is very spacious and is laid out over 2 floors. There are 3 rental properties at this location, each with their own private entrance and terrace. The gardens and swimming pool are shared.
Ground floor
- There is an entrance hall with stairs going up to the first floor and a guest toilet
- There is a very spacious open-plan living room and kitchen, located in a former classroom. The living room has reversible air conditioning and large windows on 2 sides, which makes the room very bright and airy.
- The lounge comes with 2 leather sofas, a large flat screen TV (with Chromecast, Netflix, etc) and a coffee table.
- The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, microwave, dishwasher and large fridge-freezer. There are plenty of plates, cups, glasses and cooking utensils.
- The dining table can seat 6 people.
First floor
- Bedroom 1 is a large en suite bedroom which comes with a double bed, wardrobe and bedside cabinets.
- Bedroom 2 is another double bedroom with fitted wardrobe and en suite shower room.
- Bedroom 3 comes with a single bed and a set of bunk beds. There is an en suite shower room.
Outside
- There is a large sunny terrace with patio table and chairs, large parasol, gas BBQ.
- There is a landscaped garden with boules pitch and a large swimming pool (open April to October).
- Parking is available on the street outside the property

Last visited: September 2023. This is very comfortable house to rent in South France over the winter period. Inside the house is very spacious, bright and airy. The house has good heating and is very well-equipped. Outside there is a lovely terrace which catches the sun for most of the day. The village of Roujan has a good range of shops and services, all within walking distance. This is an ideal rental for house hunters or for people looking to catch some winter sun in South France.

This Southern French long term rental property is located in the wine-making village of Roujan. The village has 2 bars, a delicatessen, 2 bakers, pharmacy, grocery store, butchers and a large supermarket. There are also a couple of restaurants in the village.
Less than fifteen minutes drive away is the ancient market town of Pezenas, with it`s atmospheric old quarter, artist’s studios and boutiques, and wide variety of bars and restaurants. There is also a fabulous market on Saturday, and on Friday evenings during the summer there are wine tasting events with the added bonus of the shops staying open until midnight.
A thirty-five minute drive will take you to the Mediterranean coastal resorts where you’ll find long stretches of sandy beaches with safe, shallow waters for swimming, all kinds of water sports, and a lively buzz in the cafes and bars.
Further afield you will find the ancient villages of Roquebrun and Olargues up in the Orb valley; St Guilhem le Desert, one of the prettiest villages in France; Bouzigues a picturesque fishing village on the Etang du Thau famous for its oysters and moules; the Canal du Midi; the famous citadel of Carcassonne and the cosmopolitan city of Montpellier.
Other transport
There is a TGV train station in the nearby cities of Beziers and Agde. Bus services run from both towns to the nearby town of Pezenas. There is a regular bus service from Pezenas to Roujan.
